Valley Full of Sky

£1,300

The deep curves of the Lakeland mountains, formed by ice long ago, create shapes which frame the changing skies.

In this piece, pastels of blue, grey and white are blended smoothly to create the drift of shadows and lit clouds.

Below, the pale bleached grasses are traced with finely drawn lines; and with the purple heather and slate grey of the rocks form a bowl to hold the sky.

Kirkstone Pass. Lake District. England.

Pastel. Framed in oak. 26 x 28 inches
